AITO M8 in India: can you get one?
No — there is no official way to buy the AITO M8 in India today.
AITO / HIMA (Huawei) has no official sales or import channel in India. India's Press Note 3 (April 2020) requires prior government approval for investment from countries sharing a land border with China, and BYD's $1bn plant proposal was rejected on security grounds in July 2023. Chinese carmakers can export cars to India but cannot easily build or set up here, so almost none have.
Chinese-owned brands you can buy in India today: BYD, MG (SAIC). Confirmed to be arriving: Leapmotor (via the Stellantis joint venture, first model due FY2026–27).

| Import barrier | EV import tariffs run roughly 70–100%; a lower ~15% rate applies only to firms investing heavily in local manufacturing. |
| China price (reference) | ≈ $54,400–$66,100 (from 369,800 RMB after the March 2026 update, up from 359,800 RMB; 2025 line-up ran 359,800–449,800 RMB) |

India protects a domestic EV industry, so imported Chinese EVs are heavily taxed unless the maker localizes production.
